Nash in 2004

It may be nearly two years since Dion Nash retired, but I decided to make a 2004 news page anyway...

April 2004
Nash returns to TV3 as a "roving reporter" for the second season of sports news show Sportzah!

Febrary-March 2004
Nash played an expanded role with TV3 during South Africa's tour of New Zealand, doing live commentary on the cricket with fellow former Black Cap Simon Doull (I have put up some photos of Nash filming in Wellington).

March 14-20, 2004
Dion Nash joined other New Zealand celebrities to travel around the South Island as part of the 14th annual Caltex Variety Bash.

January 22, 2004
The Players Association, with sponsorship from deoderant manufacturer Rexona, have established the Rexona New Zealand Youth Cricket Scholarship, to help foster junior cricket in New Zealand. The winning candidate will be selected by a panel comprising current Black Caps captain Stephen Fleming, Chairman of the Players Association, Roger Twose, and Dion Nash, who is a director of the Association's board. The scholarship winner will be a young cricketer of outstanding talent with the ambition to go further.

Summer, 2003-2004
Dion Nash has a new role for the 2003-2004 season: he, along with Simon Doull and Andrew Mulligan, is presenting TV3's late-night cricket highlights from all the Black Caps' test and one-day matches. The show includes additional discussion and comments on the day's play from the two former Test players, competitions, and a segment explaining selected aspects of the game of cricket. In sharp contrast to his somewhat awkward, camera-shy presentation when reading scripted lines, Nash is in his element talking cricket with Mulligan and former team-mate Doull. He contributes interesting comments and insights on the Black Caps in a laid-back conversational format. If you're in New Zealand, check it out on TV3. (There is also a video still from the show on Page 2 of the post-retirement gallery).
